Why no subscription?
Because it's a tool, not a service. You want a refresh every 3–6 months, not every Tuesday. Subscriptions are a tax on software that didn't deserve to be rented. You pay once, you own it, we stop billing you. Revolutionary.
Why even a Free tier if you want me to pay?
Because any pitch or demo lies. You see what Backline does on your actual contacts before you open your wallet. Twenty is enough to judge quality, small enough that we don't lose money. The other contacts come out locked in the CSV — you see the volume you're missing, you decide.
One Run vs. Lifetime — which one?
One Run if you want the list once and move on. Most people pick this. Lifetime if you know you'll want to re-run every few months as your DMs keep piling up — it pays off vs. paying for two updates. No pressure either way.
What happens with my data?
The Instagram DM export stays in your browser. It's never uploaded to any server. Only the text of your qualified conversations gets sent to Anthropic's Claude API via our proxy, for summarization — and we don't store any of it. Full breakdown on the privacy page.
Can I get my money back?
Yes. Within 14 days of purchase, email josh@backline.so with your license key and we refund it. No form, no interrogation. If it's beyond 14 days and something's genuinely off, email anyway — we'll figure it out.
Why BYOK at 79€ — that's less than One Run?
BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) means you pay for the software only — you cover the Anthropic API costs yourself via your own key. For a big archive, the API cost can be $5-20, so it's technically cheaper than One Run if you're already set up with Anthropic. We charge less because we don't carry the infrastructure cost. Fair deal for tech-savvy people.
